Cricket Trophy 2

Cricket Trophy 2

Edward Toole was the publican at the Golden Age Hotel at Tarnagulla for many years, and he was also a long time president and strong supporter of the Tarnagulla Cricket Club.
N. Butcher resided at Llanelly and was a very keen local cricket lover. He donated this trophy for the 1910/11 season.
The Tarnagulla and District Cricket Association existed for quite a few years in the 1890 -1920 period, and consisted of 6 or 8 clubs drawn from a radius of about 15 km. Tarnagulla Club finished on top of the ladder in the 1910/1911 season, and they then won the grand final against Llanelly in April 1911.
The trophy was presented to Edward Toole at the Club's annual presentation evening in December 1911. He was unwell at that time, and the club's supporters decided to present it to him in recognition of his many years of service.
