Benjamin George Davies, 1857.

Benjamin George Davies, 1857.

This is an important original document made available to the Tarnagulla Hall Committee courtesy of the family of the late Murray Comrie.
B.G.Davies arrived in Australia in 1858 to manage his brother's interests in the Prince of Wales claim on Poverty Reef. He quickly became very popular with the strong Welsh community at Tarnagulla, and not long after arrival was elected to parliament as the Member for Avoca, a seat he held for many years.
This beautiful document was presented to Mr Davies on his departure from Wales in 1857.
