Yorkshire Mine, Tarnagulla, 2014

Yorkshire Mine, Tarnagulla, 2014

The main shaft is in the immediate foreground, and was 1,160 feet deep - the deepest shaft in the Tarnagulla district. The brick in-ground structure just behind the shaft is the bob pit which housed the very substantial pumps installed on the mine. The bed logs for the pumping machinery can be seen next to the winding engine foundations.
